Due to the unique challenges faced by military families, the Department of Defense offers private and confidential counseling services to military service members and their families through the Military & Family Life Counseling Program (MFLC). All MFLCs are master or doctorate-level licensed counselors specially trained on issues specific to the military.
The mission of the program is to provide short-term, solution-focused, problem-solving counseling, coaching, and education to service members and their families. Military counselors may assist students with various issues including communication, self-esteem, moving and transition, sibling/parent relationships, managing anger, behavioral concerns, conflict resolution, deployment, reintegration, and building resiliency. MFLC services help students and their parents cope with normal reactions to the varied stresses of military life, enhancing lives and boosting military readiness.

Parents must sign a consent form before the MFLC counselor can talk with their child.
