What are the Youth Apprenticeship and Work-Based Learning Programs?

​

  • For YA and WBL, the student is scheduled for part of his/her school day at a worksite

  • The student receives HS credit upon completion of the work program, just as you do for elective classes

  • Mrs. Sack, the WBL Coordinator, and the worksite supervisor monitor students at the worksite

  • The minimum hours required depends on the number of blocks the student is scheduled for WBL (see chart below)

Benefits of WBL
to Students
  • Explore possible careers, enhance skill development, and apply academic proficiencies

  • Develop employability skills, including positive work habits and attitudes

  • Make connections among school, post-secondary opportunities, and employers

  • Improve job prospects after graduation and learn from skilled professionals

  • Earn elective credit upon completion of required documented hours and class assignments

WBL Eligibility
and Requirements
  • 11th and 12th Grade Students who are on track for graduation

  • Minimum of 16 years of age

  • Good attendance and discipline record

  • 3 recommendations from teachers(see application)

  • Reliable transportation

  • At least 2 CTAE credits in a pathway related to your work placement, with intentions of continuing pathway

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Fill out an application online WITH A PARENT/GUARDIAN present 

  • You will receive an acceptance/rejection letter, after reviewing the application and teacher recommendations.

  • If accepted, email jsack@bryan.k12.ga.us to schedule an appointment.  

*Applying for WBL takes time & effort.  It is not as simple as just signing up for the class.  If you are interested, please begin the process as early as possible.*
