The Full Story
AP (Advanced Placement Classes) AT RHHS
According to College Board, AP courses delve deeper into subjects that interest students. Because of the immersive nature of AP courses, students are given opportunities to add their unique perspectives by sharing ideas and knowledge with one another.
By successfully completing AP courses, students demonstrate their ability to succeed in an undergraduate environment, which can help students stand out during the college admissions process. AP courses on high school transcripts demonstrate to colleges and universities that the student is up for a challenge by enrolling in the most rigorous courses offered at the high school level.
Students earn college credits by earning specified scoring on AP Exams.
Check out specific colleges' guidelines on accepting AP scores for credit and placement by searching the AP Credit Policy database.
At RHHS, students who are interested in AP are strongly encouraged to speak with current teachers for recommendations, AP teachers for expectations, advisors, and counselors to determine if AP is the right fit. Students are required to submit an AP Contract, which states the requirements and expectations of the specific AP course. AP Contracts are only available for students to pick up during scheduling periods. The Academic Guide shows AP courses by grade level and any mandatory AP course pairings at RHHS.
