SELF-HARM
WHAT IS SELF-HARM?
Self-harm or self-injury means hurting yourself on purpose. Common methods are cutting or burning oneself, pulling out hair, and picking at wounds to prevent them from healing. It is often a sign of emotional distressed and causes feelings of shame. Although some mental illnesses are associated with self-harm, self-harm not a mental illness. Many individuals who self-harm are able to overcome it with treatment.

Self-harm is not the same as attempting suicide.
